PMA Research (PMA) published its latest sell-through tracking report on large-format (32 inches and larger), flat-panel displays and projectors being sold by US AV/IT distributors who serve commercial markets. PMA’s Professional All Displays Distributor Tracking Report combines tracking data for these two product categories into one report to allow for total display-market tracking and comparisons between these display-product segments.
Unit volume and revenues for combined sales of flat-panel displays and projectors were both up from Q3/17 with revenues growing 15 percent and unit sales rising 21 percent over last year. In addition, January through September year-to-date revenues and unit sales both ran more than 20 percent ahead of year-to-date figures for the same period last year. This uptick in display sales is in part attributed to a second quarter where K-12 education sales were quite robust.
Interactive display sales rose again during the third quarter, and this growth was concentrated in the interactive projection space, where sales rose more than 50 percent and revenues rose even more over Q3/17. In addition, the average selling price for 90-inch+ flat-panel displays rose during the third quarter, largely because of increased sales volume for 98-inch models, which nearly doubled from Q2/18 to Q3/18, increasing the average selling price for the 90-inch+ category.
